About BHumn DanceSpace
BHumn DanceSpace is a training facility designed for nurturing the serious dance student from pre-professional to professional. The focus of the classes held in the Space is technique, artistry and performance. The faculty all strive to educate each student and bring them to their fullest potential as artists. BHumn DanceSpace was founded in Austin, TX in June of 2010 under the direction of Cheryl Copeland. The Space holds classes in ballet, modern, jazz, improvisation, lyrical, pointe, hip hop, tap, and contemporary. BHumn DanceSpace is also home to BHumn Dance Company, a professional contemporary modern dance company in the Austin area. Professional classes are held in the late evenings for potential and existing company members. It is also home to the pre-professional contemporary modern company, Humnz Dance Ensemble, and the Jr. Tap Company, Tap Ensemble. Please see the companies page for more details.
You can choose one of two tracks to follow as a company member:Track A or Track B. Track A requirements are 4 ballet, 1 modern, 1 contemporary Jazz, 1 Hip Hop, and 1 Tap. On this track, you are eligible for all choreographers and performance opportunities and are also required to attend 3 dance conventions with the team. Track B requirements are 3 ballet and 1 modern or contemporary jazz. On the B Track, you are only eligible for 2 pieces per semester and dance conventions are optional.

Tuition
The first class taken at BHumn DanceSpace is at the drop in cost of $15 per hour or $18 per hour and a half. After that initial drop in class, each student must register to continue taking classes. There is a $30 registration fee per student or a $45 registration fee per family. Once the student is registered, they may continue on a drop in basis or may register for classes. Tuition is done on a sliding scale starting at $60 for 45 min-1 hour classes per week and is due the 15th of every month. After a 5 day grace period, there is a $15 late fee. ** Please note, classes are cancelled from time to time due to low enrollment or a special event. No accommodations are made for drop in students in the event they show up for a cancelled class. Please call ahead if unsure.
*** IF DROPPING A CLASS OR NOT RETURNING TO THE SPACE, A 15 DAY WRITTEN NOTICE (EMAIL IS SUFFICIENT) IS REQUIRED OR YOU WILL CONTINUE TO BE BILLED FOR THE CLASS OR CLASSES YOU ARE REGISTERED FOR.

Studio Policies
Studio Etiquette
- Students must follow the dress code per class. ( No jewelry)
- Students should be picked up on time. If driving themselves, students should let the instructor know when they are leaving the building.
- Students should arrive 5 minutes early to class to properly prepare for class and be ready to enter the studio at the beginning of class time.
- Students should always be properly covered up when walking outside of the studio doors. It is not appropriate to walk outside in just dance clothes or in bare feet.
- Parents and other observers should at no time open the door to the studio and disrupt a student or instructor unless there is an emergency. This is a disruption to the entire class and will result in a less than maximum experience for your child as well as others.
- No food or drink other than water is allowed in the dance room.
- Teachers are permitted to dismiss a student from class due to behavioral problems.
- No student arriving more than 10 minutes late to class will be permitted to take. They will be instructed to watch and take notes.
-Students will be able to make up any classes missed within one month of the absentee date. This can be made up hour for hour by any class on the schedule. Please let the instructor know when you are making up a class and what class you are making it up. Please note that good attendance is mandatory for a student to excel and reach their maximum potential in a class.
